Windsor Castle

The Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned today commenced a State Visit at Windsor Castle to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall welcomed Their Highnesses on behalf of The Queen.

The Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, accompanied by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, drove to the Royal Dais in Datchet Road, Windsor, and were met by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, accompanied by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, drove in a Carriage Procession to Windsor Castle with a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry.

Gun Salutes were fired in the Home Park (Private) by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Windsor Castle by 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty.

The Queen presented The Emir of the State of Qatar with the Insignia of an Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.

Her Majesty presented Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned with the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned this afternoon drove to the Palace of Westminster and were received by the Lord Speaker and the Rt Hon John Bercow MP (Speaker of the House of Commons).

The Speaker welcomed Their Highnesses and The Emir of the State of Qatar delivered an Address.

The Emir of the State of Qatar afterwards visited No 10 Downing Street and had talks with the Prime Minister.

The Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP (Deputy Leader of the Opposition) later called upon His Highness at Windsor Castle.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a State Banquet this evening in honour of The Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, and Princess Michael of Kent were present.
