Buckingham Palace

The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Queen, Patron, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, this evening presented the Chatham House Prize to The President of the Republic of Turkey at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, London SW1, and was received by Sir Michael Craig-Cooper (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London) and the Co-President of Chatham House (Sir John Major).

Her Majesty attended a Reception and addressed those present.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this morning received Mr. Ashok Rabheru and Mr. Joe McNally upon their retirement as Trustees.

His Royal Highness, Honorary Life Member, the British Sub-Aqua Club, afterwards presented The Duke of Edinburgh Prize at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, later received Mr. Terence Regan (Chairman of the Trustees, International Golf for Youth).

His Royal Highness, President, Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, this afternoon held a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, President, the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, later presented Awards and chaired a Meeting of the English Language Council.

His Royal Highness this evening presented The Prince Philip Designers’ Prize at the Design Council, 34 Bow Street, London WC2.

The Prince of Wales, President, King’s Fund, this morning received Professor Sir Cyril Chantler KT upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and Sir Christopher Kelly upon assuming the appointment, and Professor Christopher Ham upon assuming the appointment as Chief Executive.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Army Air Corps, afterwards received Colonel William Sivewright upon relinquishing his appointment as Assistant Director Army Aviation and Colonel Frazer Budd upon assuming the appointment, Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Butler upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 5 Regiment and Lieutenant Colonel David Osborne upon assuming the appointment, and Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Banks upon assuming the appointment as Commanding Officer 6 Regiment.

Colonel Neale Moss (Station Commander, Wattisham Flying Station) was present.

His Royal Highness, President, this afternoon held a Meeting for The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.

The Prince of Wales, President, the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, and The Duchess of Cornwall later attended a Reunion Service in St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, London WC2, and afterwards attended a Reception at St James’s Palace.

Their Royal Highnesses this evening attended a Reception at the Embassy of Ireland, 17 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1.

St James’s Palace

Prince Henry of Wales was present this morning at the Dedication of the Wootton Bassett Field of Remembrance at Lydiard Park, Swindon, and subsequently declared the start of March for Honour at Lydiard Park, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mr. John Bush).

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this afternoon received Dr. Antony Stokes (Her Majesty’s Ambassador, designate, to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam).

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, afterwards visited L.E.K. Consulting, 40 Grosvenor Place, London SW1.

The Duke of York, Patron, this evening gave a Dinner for the York Minster Fund at Buckingham Palace.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this evening held an Icons’ Dinner at Windsor Castle.

The Princess Royal, Royal Patron, Motor Neurone Disease Association, this morning attended a Meeting on palliative care at Broadway House, Tothill Street, London SW1.

Her Royal Highness, Honorary Air Commodore, University of London Air Squadron, later attended a Seventy Fifth Anniversary Church Service in St. Clement Danes Royal Air Force Church, Strand, London WC2, followed by a Reception at the Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1, and was received by Wing Commander Michael Dudgeon (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Princess Royal this afternoon received Captain James Morley, Royal Navy, upon assuming the appointment of Commanding Officer of HMS Albion.

Her Royal Highness, Honorary Fellow, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, this evening attended the Eightieth Anniversary and Royal Charter Celebration Reception at 119 Britannia Walk, London N1.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Whitley Fund for Nature, accompanied by Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, later attended the Annual Supporters’ Dinner in London SW10.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Anglian Regiment, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel James Woodham upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Mick Aston upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, President, Public Monuments and Sculpture Association, this evening presented the Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture at the Gallery, Alan Baxter and Associates, Seventy Cowcross Street, London EC1.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning officially opened the Engineering Centre, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Bridle Road, Bootle, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside (Dame Lorna Muirhead).

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Service to commemorate the Four Hundredth Anniversary of Prescot Parish Church, Vicarage Place, Prescot.

The Duke of Kent later opened the Transitional Rehabilitation Unit at Ashton Road, Newton-le-Willows.

His Royal Highness, President of the Council, this evening attended the Annual Friends Reception of King Edward VII’s Hospital (Sister Agnes) at Vintners’ Hall, Upper Thames Street, London EC4.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra this afternoon departed Heathrow Airport, London, for the United States of America.
