COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

His Excellency Mr João de Vallera was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Portugal to the Court of St James’s.

Mrs Margarida Azevedo was also received by Her Majesty.

His Excellency Mr Keiichi Hayashi was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Japan to the Court of St James’s.

Mrs Hayashi was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Simon Fraser (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope (First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff) was received by The Queen.

The Duke of Edinburgh, President, Cutty Sark Trust, this morning received the Lord Sterling of Plaistow and Mr Richard Doughty (Chief Executive).

His Royal Highness, Grand Master, Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, this afternoon gave a Luncheon for the members of the Knights Grand Cross at St James’s Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, President, English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, this evening gave a Dinner at Buckingham Palace to mark His Royal Highness’s retirement as President.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, accompanied by The Duchess of Cornwall, this morning visited the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, Goldsmiths’ Hall, Foster Lane, London EC2.

His Royal Highness this afternoon held a Reception at Clarence House for Charity Next.

The Prince of Wales, President, Arts and Business, afterwards held a Meeting at Clarence House.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, Fight for Sight, this afternoon received Ms Michele Acton (Chief Executive).

Her Royal Highness, Commodore, Royal Thames Yacht Club, received Peter Haslehurst (Vice Commodore) and Captain David Freeman (Secretary).

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, received Mr Patrick Crawford (Chief Executive, Export Credits Guarantee Department) and Mr John Snowdon (Head of Civil and Defence Projects, Export Credits Guarantee Department).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Butler Trust, this morning visited HM Prison Buckley Hall, Buckley Farm Lane, Rochdale, Lancashire, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester (Mr Warren Smith).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Youth Support Services, this afternoon visited Shrewsbury Multi-Agency Team at Richmond House, Rutland, Harlescott Grange, Shrewsbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire (Mr Algernon HeberPercy).

The Princess Royal later opened Malvern Community Hospital, Worcester Road, Malvern, and was received by Lady Morrison (Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, this morning attended a Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, 3 Charterhouse Mews, London EC1.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, Royal United Services Institute, this morning received Vice Admiral Rory McLean (Vice Chairman) and Professor Michael Clarke (Director).

His Royal Highness this evening attended a Concert given by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London SE1.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Honorary Air Commodore, this afternoon visited Royal Air Force Cottesmore, Oakham, Rutland.
