COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

Dame Nicola Brewer was received in audience by The Queen today upon her appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa.

Mr Geoffrey Gillham was also received by Her Majesty.

Major General William Cubitt was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Major General Commanding Household Division when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

Major General George Norton was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Major General Commanding Household Division.

Her Majesty received the Venerable Stephen Robbins upon relinquishing his appointment as Chaplain General to the Forces and the Reverend Jonathan Woodhouse upon assuming the appointment.

Chief Superintendent Ian Boyes was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of York, The Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent were present.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The Bands of The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons) and The Prince of Wales’s Division played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Association of Lord-Lieutenants’ Lunch at St James’s Palace.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall today visited Powys and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke).

Their Royal Highnesses this morning visited Bacheldre Watermill, Churchstoke.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later visited D. and S. Bamford (Makers) Limited, the Workhouse, Industrial Estate, Presteigne.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Aryma Contemporary Marquetry, 6-7 Ddole Enterprise Park, Llandrindod Wells.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Macmillan Cancer Support, and The Duchess of Cornwall, President, the Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Centres Trust, afterwards visited the Bracken Trust Day Centre, Cefnllys Lane, Llandrindod Wells.

His Royal Highness later visited Elan Valley Mutton, Henfron Farm, Rhayader.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning received Mr Geoffrey Tantum (Director, Gulf Consultancy Services).

His Royal Highness today received Mr Xavier Rolet (Chief Executive, London Stock Exchange Group) and Dr Peter Hayes (Head of Public Affairs).

The Duke of York, President, this afternoon gave a Lunch for the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this evening attended the Summer Party of the English National Ballet at the Orangery, Kensington Palace.

The Duke of York afterwards attended a Financial Services Dinner at Morgan Stanley, 20 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London E14.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex today visited the Isle of Wight and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Major General Martin White).

His Royal Highness attended the International Island Games.

The Earl of Wessex, Patron, Oglander Roman Trust (Brading Roman Villa), this afternoon met the Trustees at Brading.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Renewal of Newport Minster Campaign, later visited the Minster Church of Sts Thomas, Newport.

The Earl of Wessex this evening attended the Island Games Association Reception at the Royal Yacht Squadron, the Castle, Cowes.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, the London Children’s Flower Society, this afternoon met competition winners at Tufnell Park Primary School, Dalmeney Road, London N7, and was received by Sir Ian Johnston (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, this evening attended a Reception at St James’s Palace for the Central School of Ballet.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, Sense — the National Deafblind and Rubella Association, this morning attended a Drumathon at King’s Place, 90 York Way, London N1.

Her Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Corps of Signals, this afternoon visited the Corps at Browndown Training Camp, Hampshire.

The Princess Royal, Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth, later opened the Naval Base Approach Road, Princess Royal Way, HM Naval Base Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the National Museum of the Royal Navy, afterwards attended a Reception to celebrate One Hundred Years of Naval Heritage in Portsmouth Dockyard at HM Naval Base.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the National Museum of the Royal Navy, this evening attended the Centenary Dinner at HM Naval Base and was received by Her Majesty’s LordLieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Royal Academy Schools, this morning visited the Royal Academy of Arts Show at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1, and was received by Brigadier Paul Orchard-Lisle (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Friends of St Paul’s Cathedral, this evening attended a Concert in support of Help for Heroes in the Cathedral, London EC4.
