COURT CIRCULAR

Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and were received by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).

Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor George Grubb, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

A Guard of Honour found by The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (B Company 5 SCOTS), under the command of Major William Horridge, was mounted in the Forecourt.

The Duke of Edinburgh, at Buckingham Palace, this morning received Addresses of Congratulation on his Ninetieth Birthday from the House of Lords and the House of Commons, to which His Royal Highness was graciously pleased to make reply.

By command of The Queen, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Anibal de Castro at 139 Inverness Terrace, London W2, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Dominican Republic to the Court of St James’s.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Major General Sir Simon Gooper (Extra Equerry and formerly Master of the Household) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lieutenant Colonel Sir Blair StewartWilson which was held in St Mary Magdalene Church, Taunton, Somerset, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales was represented by Sir Antony Acland KG.

The Duke of York was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Olney.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were represented by the Lady Alexandra Etherington.

The Princess Royal was represented by the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Simon Bland.

The Duke and Duchess of Kent were represented by Mr Nicolas Adamson.

Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy was represented by Mrs Peter Afia.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning opened the newly renovated Railway Station at Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed (the Hon Robin Lewis).

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards opened the new Village Hall and Visitors’ Centre at Myddfai, Dyfed.

The Prince of Wales, President, this afternoon held a Reception to mark the Tenth Anniversary of Prime Cymru.

His Royal Highness, Chancellor, University of Wales, later received Professor Marc Clement (Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive), Mr Hugh Thomas (Chairman of the Council) and Professor Medwin Hughes (Vice Chancellor, University of Wales Trinity Saint David).

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening gave a Dinner for artists.

The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon gave a Reception for the Welsh children’s cancer charity, L.A.T.C.H. (Llandough Aims to Treat children with Cancer and leukæmia with Hope).

St James’s Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Canada.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, Ottawa, and were received by the Rt Hon Stephen Harper MP (Prime Minister).

Afterwards The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were welcomed at Government House, Ottawa, by the Governor-General of Canada (the Rt Hon David Johnston).

Their Royal Highnesses this evening attended a Dinner given by the Governor-General at Government House.

Mr James Lowther-Pinkerton, Sir David Manning, Mr Patrick Harrison, Mr Miguel Head and Mr Christopher Kealey are in attendance.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning received Mr Robert Dudley (Chief Executive, BP plc).

His Royal Highness received Mr Mark Canning (Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia).

The Duke of York received Professor Brian Cox (University Research Fellow, Royal Society).

His Royal Highness this afternoon received Mr Ian Lindsay (Her Majesty’s Ambassador designate to the Kingdom of Bahrain).

The Duke of York, Colonel-in-Chief, Small Arms School Corps, received Lieutenant Colonel William Paterson upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Major John Whitchurch upon assuming the appointment.

Colonel Philip Napier (Commandant) was present.

His Royal Highness later gave a Reception for the WorldSkills London 2011 Team UK.

The Duke of York this evening gave a Reception at St James’s Palace for 2012 — Springboard to Success.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex today attended the International Island Games, Isle of Wight, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Major General Martin White).

His Royal Highness also visited Carisbrooke Castle Museum, Castle Hill, Newport.

The Countess of Wessex, President, Girlguiding UK, this morning received Mrs Elizabeth Burnley upon relinquishing her appointment as Chief Guide and Mrs Gillian Slocombe upon assuming the appointment.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, World Horse Welfare, this morning visited Hall Farm Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, Snetterton, and was received by the Viscountess Knollys (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk).

Her Royal Highness later visited the Museum of the Broads, the Staithe, Stalham, Norfolk.

The Princess Royal this afternoon visited the Royal Norfolk Show at the Royal Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, Norwich, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk (Mr Richard Jewson).

Her Royal Highness, President, Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, afterwards attended the Annual General Meeting at the Royal Norfolk Showground.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Senior Fellow, this morning visited the Royal College of Art Show, Kensington Gore, London SW7, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

The Duchess of Gloucester today attended a Luncheon for former Commanding Officers on board HMS Gloucester and subsequently attended the Decommissioning Service and Parade at HM Royal Naval Base, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, today attended the Lawn Tennis Championships in Wimbledon, London SW19.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Royal Patron, Alzheimer’s Society, this afternoon received Mr Jeremy Hughes (Chief Executive) at Buckingham Palace.
