COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Rt. Hon. Edward Miliband MP (Leader of the Opposition) called upon The President of the Republic of Turkey at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, with the Turkish Suite in attendance, afterwards left Buckingham Palace upon the conclusion of the State Visit to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The President and Mrs. Gül later visited the Royal Naval Cemetery, Haslar, Gosport, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan), Surgeon Captain Neil Butterfield RN (Medical Officer in Charge, Institute of Naval Medicine, Alverstoke) and the Mayor of Gosport (Councillor Christopher Carter).

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül, escorted by Imam Asim Hafiz (Muslim Chaplain to the British Armed Forces), moved through to the Memorial in the Turkish Naval Cemetery where His Excellency laid a wreath and subsequently toured the Cemetery.

The President and Mrs. Gül this afternoon visited Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth and were received by Vice Admiral Charles Montgomery (Second Sea Lord) and Commodore Anthony Radakin RN (Naval Base Commander Portsmouth).

His Excellency toured HMS DAUNTLESS (Captain William Warrender RN) whilst Mrs. Gül toured the Victory Museum.

The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül were subsequently entertained to Luncheon by the Second Sea Lord onboard HMS VICTORY (Lieutenant Commander Oscar Whild RN).

The President and Mrs. Gül later visited Stansted Park, Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, and were received by the Chairman of Trustees, Stansted Park Foundation (the Earl of Bessborough).

His Excellency and Mrs. Gül toured the House and remained to Tea with the Chairman.

His Excellency Mr. Gordon Campbell was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment as High Commissioner for Canada in London.

Mrs. Campbell was also received by Her Majesty.

The Lord Taylor of Holbeach was received by The Queen and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as a Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty.

The Baroness Stowell of Beeston was received by The Queen upon assuming her appointment as a Baroness in Waiting to Her Majesty.

The Archbishop of Canterbury was received in audience by The Queen.

The Rt. Hon. Carwyn Jones AM (First Secretary of the National Assembly for Wales) was received in audience by Her Majesty.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Field Marshal, this morning attended the Senior Serving and Retired Officers’ Briefing at the Army and Navy Club, Pall Mall, London SW1.

The Earl Peel (Lord Chamberlain) was present at Southampton Airport this afternoon upon the Departure of The President of the Republic of Turkey and Mrs. Gül and bade farewell to His Excellency and Mrs. Gül on behalf of The Queen.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, this morning attended the Alumni Diploma Reception at 19-22 Charlotte Road, Shoreditch, London EC2.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Macmillan Cancer Support, this afternoon held a Reception at Clarence House.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Charities Foundation (China), this evening gave a Dinner.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York today carried out the following engagements in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

His Royal Highness this morning opened Brighton College Abu Dhabi.

The Duke of York this afternoon opened the Olympic Portraits Exhibition at the Etihad Towers.

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Luncheon given by Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan at the Etihad Towers.

The Duke of York this evening attended a Reception given by the Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (His Excellency Mr. Dominic Jermey) at the Residence.

His Royal Highness afterwards received the Chief Executive of Masdar at the Emirates Palace.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, this afternoon attended the Haberdashers Court of Assistants at Haberdashers’ Hall, 18 West Smithfield, London EC1.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, New Haven Trust, this morning visited the New Haven Learning Centre for the announcement of the creation of the Kae Martin Campus, 301 Lanor Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Lunch at Queen’s Park, Toronto, in celebration of Ontario Aboriginal Culture.

The Countess of Wessex afterwards visited the Toronto Western Hospital, 399 Bathurst Street, Toronto, and attended a series of briefings on the Arthritis Programme.

Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, 100 Front Street West, Toronto.

The Countess of Wessex later departed Toronto Pearson International Airport for the United Kingdom.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, Animal Health Trust, this morning attended a Council of Management Meeting at Lanwades Park, Kentford, Newmarket, and was received by Mr. Nicholas Wingfield-Digby (Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk).

Her Royal Highness, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this afternoon visited Redbridge Carers Support Service, 17 Station Road, Ilford, Essex, and was received by Colonel Paul Acda (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Princess Royal, President, Victim Support, this evening held a Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children UK, later attended a Dinner at Spencer House, 27 St. James’s Place, London SW1.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Commodore, today attended a Lunch at the Royal Ulster Yacht Club, 101 Clifton Road, Bangor, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Down (Mr. David Lindsay).

His Royal Highness, Patron, Construction Youth Trust, this evening attended The Duke of Gloucester’s Young Achievers Awards at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, London SW1.

The Duchess of Gloucester, President, Royal Academy of Music, this morning attended a Governing Body Meeting at Santander House, 2 Triton Square, Regent’s Place, London NW1.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Field Marshal, this morning attended the Senior Serving and Retired Officers’ Briefing and Lunch at the Army and Navy Club, Pall Mall, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this evening attended a Concert given by Opera North at the Barbican, Silk Street, London EC2.
