COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace 

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Cambridge Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr Hugh Duberly) and the Mayor of the City of Cambridge (Councillor Sheila Stuart).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh travelled by Guided Bus to Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Hills Road, Cambridge, and were received by the Director (Sir Hugh Pelham) and the Lord Sainsbury of Turville (Chancellor, University of Cambridge).

Her Majesty, escorted by the Director, and His Royal Highness, escorted by Sir John Savill (Chief Executive), toured laboratories, viewed exhibitions and met members of staff.

The Queen officially opened Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were subsequently entertained to Luncheon.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this afternoon officially opened the new Rosie Hospital, Cambridge University Hospital, Hills Road, Cambridge, and was received by the Chairman of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Ms Jane Ramsey).

Her Majesty, escorted by Ms Amanda Cahn (Associate Director of Women’s and Children’s Services), toured the Birthing Unit and met patients and members of staff.

His Royal Highness, escorted by the Dr Keith McNeil (Chief Executive) and Mr Gerald Hackett (Consultant for Women’s Services), toured the Neonatal Unit.

Clarence House 

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts, Hay-on-Wye, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Powys (the Hon Mrs. Legge-Bourke).

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Maesyronnen Chapel, Glasbury, Powys.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Welsh National Opera, later attended a performance of Lohengrin at Wales Millennium Centre, Bute Place, Cardiff, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan (Dr Peter Beck).

Buckingham Palace 

The Duke of York this morning visited Silverstone, the Silverstone Wing, Silverstone Circuit, Towcaster, and attended a Lunch for Silverstone University Technical College, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire (the Lady Juliet Townsend).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire (Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Bt).

The Duke of York this evening attended a Reception to mark the Fiftieth Anniversary of G. D. Golding Limited, Sopwell House, Cottonmill Lane, St Albans, and was received by Mr Howard Guard (Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire).

Buckingham Palace 

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this afternoon attended a Lunch in Nashville, Tennessee, United States of America.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, later attended a Reception at the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion, 882 Curtiswood Lane South, Nashville, for young people who have achieved the Bronze Standard in the Award and was received by the Governor of Tennessee (Governor William Haslam).

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this evening attended The Duke of Edinburgh’s Young American’s Challenge Royal Gala Dinner at Montgomery Bell Academy, 4001 Harking Pike, Nashville.

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal, Director, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, today attended a Board Meeting at 25 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Motor Neurone Disease Association, this afternoon attended a Round Table Discussion followed by a Reception at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1.

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of the Highlands and Islands, this evening held a Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, President, United Kingdom Fashion and Textile Association, later attended an Awards Ceremony and Dinner at One Mayfair, 13A North Audley Street, London W1.

Kensington Palace 

The Duchess of Gloucester, President, the Bridewell Foundation, King Edward’s School, Witley, this evening attended the Four Hundred and Sixtieth Anniversary Benefactors’ Reception at Mansion House, London EC4.

St James’s Palace 

The Duke of Kent, President, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, this morning presented Commendation Medals at St James’s Palace.

His Royal Highness, President, this afternoon attended the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Annual Awards at the Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2.
