His Excellency the Hon Sir Elliott Belgrave was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment of Governor-General of Barbados.
Lady Belgrave was also received by Her Majesty.
The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, received Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Best upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Jules Buckzacki upon assuming the appointment.
Major General Patrick Marriott (Colonel) was present.
The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Ben Lyster-Binns (the Oriental Republic of Uruguay), Mr Timothy Smart (the Republic of Madagascar), Mr Michael Gifford (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and Mr Clive Alderton (the Kingdom of Morocco).
Mrs Lyster-Binns, Miss Veronika Kantorovitch, Mrs Gifford and Mrs Alderton were also received by Her Majesty.
The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, Grenadier Guards, was received this afternoon by Major General Sir George Norton (Regimental Lieutenant Colonel) before being received on the Terrace of Buckingham Palace with a Royal Salute.
Her Majesty then inspected The Queen’s Company and Nijmegen Company before presenting New Colours to Nijmegen Company.
After the presentation The Queen addressed the Companies and the Grenadier Guards Association and the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel replied.
The Queen’s Company and Nijmegen Company subsequently marched past Her Majesty.
The Queen, Patron, Grenadier Guards Association, having been received by Colonel Euan Houstoun (President), afterwards gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.
The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.
By command of The Queen, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Georg Boomgaarden at 22 Belgrave Square, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany to the Court of St James’s.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Captain General, Royal Marines, was represented by Major General Edward Davis (Commandant General) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lieutenant General Sir Steuart Pringle (former Commandant General) which was held at St Lawrence Jewry next Guildhall, London EC2, this morning.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited Caledon Village and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Armagh (the Earl of Caledon).
Their Royal Highnesses later met representatives of the local community and Youth Action at St James’ Church of Ireland Parish Hall, the Square, Moy, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Tyrone (Mr Robert Scott).
The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, and The Countess of Wessex, accompanied by The Crown Princess Margarita of Romania, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Romania, this morning attended a Reception at Elisabeta Palace, Kiseleff Road, Bucharest, Romania, for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.
Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon attended a Luncheon in support of Casa Sperantei (Hospices of Hope) at Ghica Palace, Strada Doamna Ghica, Bucharest.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex afterwards departed Bucharest Otopeni Airport for Slovenia and were received later upon arrival at Brnik Airport, Ljubljana, by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia (His Excellency Mr Andrew Page).
His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness, Patron, London College of Fashion, this evening attended a fashion workshop at the Faculty of Natural Science and Engineering, Ljubljana.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex afterwards called upon the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia at the Presidential Palace, Prešernova Street, Ljubljana.
Their Royal Highnesses subsequently attended a Dinner at Ljubljana Castle.
