Buckingham Palace

Sir John Jenkins was received in audience by The Queen today and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Lady Jenkins was also received by Her Majesty.

Major General the Hon Michael Jeffery was received by The Queen.

Major General Edward Smythe-Osbourne was received by Her ­Majesty upon his appointment as Major General Commanding Household Division.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening for The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

The Earl of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy were present.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Baptism of the Infant Son of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took place at 3.00 pm this afternoon in the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, ­assisted by the Bishop of London (Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal) and the Reverend Prebendary William Scott (Sub-Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal), baptised the Infant Prince who received the names George Alexander Louis.

The Godparents were: Mrs. Michael Tindall, Earl Grosvenor, the Hon Mrs Michael Samuel, Mrs David Jardine-Paterson, Mr Oliver Baker, Mr William van Cutsem and Major James Lowther-Pinkerton.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales this afternoon received the Hon Apurv Bagri (Chairman, the Royal Parks) and Mrs Linda Lennon (Chief Executive).

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Royal Parks Foundation, afterwards received Mr Joel Cadbury (Chairman) and Mrs Sara Lom (Chief Executive).

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall subsequently received Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (Chairwoman, National League for Democracy).

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning ­received His Excellency Bui Thanh Son (Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam).

His Royal Highness, Chairman of the Trustees, Outward Bound Trust, today held a Chairman’s Meeting at Buckingham Palace and subsequently gave a Luncheon for the Patron’s Company.

The Duke of York this afternoon received Mr Anthoni Salim (Chief Executive Officer and President, Salim Group).

His Royal Highness afterwards ­received Mr Sri Prakesh Lohia (Founder and Chairman, Indorama Group).

The Duke of York, Grand Master, this evening presented awards at the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators Trophies and Awards Banquet at the Mansion House, London EC2.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this morning attended a Meeting at the Lanesborough Hotel, Hyde Park Corner, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, President, Sport and Recreation Alliance, later held a Meeting at Buckingham ­Palace.

The Earl of Wessex, President, afterwards held a Meeting for the ­National Youth Music Theatre.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Royal Exchange Theatre Company, this afternoon held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The Countess of Wessex, President, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, this morning visited Guild Heritage House, Braggs Lane, Old Market, Bristol, in celebration of the Society’s First Anniversary at the House, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs John Prior).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon opened the Healing Foundation Cleft Gene Bank at Oakfield House, Oakfield Grove, Bristol.

The Countess of Wessex, President, Girlguiding, later opened Somermead, the new residential lodge in Snipefield Lane, Wedmore, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Lady Gass).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Two Moors Festival, this evening attended a Concert in the Cathedral Church of St Peter, Exeter, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Sir Eric Dancer).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Canadian Medical Service, this morning visited the Canadian Forces Health Services Training Centre, Canadian Forces Base Borden, Ontario, Canada, and presented Her Royal Highness’s Banner to the Royal Canadian Medical Service.

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Canadian Medical Service, afterwards attended a Reception and unveiled the new Canadian Forces Health Services Group Badge at the Canadian Forces Health ­Services Training Centre.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon called upon the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (the Hon David Onley) at the Legislative Building, Queen’s Park, Toronto.

The Princess Royal, Grand Master, the Royal Victorian Order, and President, The Duke of Edinburgh’s ­Commonwealth Study Conference (United Kingdom), subsequently ­attended a Reception at the Legislative Building.

Her Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Canadian Forces Communications and Electronics Branch, this evening attended a Dinner at the National Club, 303 Bay Street, Toronto.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Habitat for Humanity Great Britain, this morning received Mrs Rebecca Martin upon assuming her appointment as National Director.

Mr Stewart Baseley (Chairman) was present.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended the “Innovation in Practice” Exhibition at the University of Westminster, 35 Marylebone Road, London NW1, to mark their One Hundred and Seventy Fifth Anniversary and was received by Dr Paul Knapman (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this afternoon ­arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Hungary.

Mr Nicholas Marden was in ­attendance.
