Buckingham Palace

Mr Alistair Harrison was received by Her Majesty today upon his appointment as Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps and received from The Queen his Chain of Office.

Lady Caro was received by The Queen this afternoon and delivered up the Insignia of a Member of the Order of Merit worn by her husband, the late Sir Anthony Caro.

Mr Paul Caro, son of Sir Anthony and Lady Caro, was also received by Her Majesty.

The Lord Fellowes (Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit) was in attendance.

Her Majesty received the Bishop of Durham (the Right Reverend Paul Butler) who did homage upon his appointment.

The Rt Hon Christopher Grayling MP (Lord Chancellor) administered the Oath.

The Reverend Prebendary William Scott (Deputy Clerk of the Closet) was in attendance.

The Governor-General of Canada and Mrs Johnston were received by The Queen.

The Governor-General of Canada and Mrs. Johnston remained to Luncheon with The Queen and The Earl of Wessex.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m.

There were present: the Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon David Jones MP (Secretary of State for Wales), the Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department) and the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland).

The Rt Hon Sir Antony Baldry MP, the Rt Hon Sir Christopher Clarke, the Rt Hon Dame Victoria Sharp and the Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Vos were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Lady Clark of Calton made affirmation as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of The Queen before the Council.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited British Broadcasting Corporation Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London W1, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited Global Radio, 29-30 Leicester Square, London WC2.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Trust, and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited Bauer Radio, 4 Winsley Street, London W1.

His Royal Highness later received the Ambassador from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (His Excellency Prince Mohamed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz).

The Prince of Wales, Colonel, Welsh Guards, received Lieutenant Colonel Dino Bossi upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron, this evening attended the Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, London WC2.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, Action on Hearing Loss, this morning visited the Ear Institute Programme at University College London, 322 Gray’s Inn Road, London WC1.

His Royal Highness, Chairman of the Trustees, Outward Bound Trust, this afternoon held a Chairman’s Meeting at Buckingham Palace and gave a Luncheon for the Patron’s Company.

The Duke of York, Fellow, the Royal Society, later held a Meeting to support the United Kingdom’s Quantum Technology Strategy.

His Royal Highness afterwards received Mr John Griffin (Chairman, Addison Lee Limited).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Member, International Olympic Committee, and President, British Olympic Association, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this afternoon visited the Russian International Olympic University, 11 Ordzhonikidze Street, Sochi, Russia.

Her Royal Highness, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended a Reception at the British Embassy, 10 Smolenskaya Embankment, Moscow.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Royal Patron, Children and Families Across Borders, this evening held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.
