Buckingham Palace

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today visited the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and met some of the athletes taking part.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this morning watched the England Women versus Wales Women hockey match at Glasgow National Hockey Centre and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Sadie Docherty, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost), the Chairman of Glasgow 2014 (the Lord Smith of Kelvin) and the Vice President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (Mr Gideon Sam).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later watched swimming heats at Tollcross International Swimming Centre and were received by Mr David Grevemberg (Chief Executive, Glasgow 2014) and Mr Bruce Robertson (Commonwealth Games Federation Vice President from Canada).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended a Reception for athletes at the Athletes’ Village and were received by the Village Chieftain (Ms Shirley Addison).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were subsequently entertained at a Luncheon for athletes and officials from each of the seventy one nations and territories competing in the Commonwealth Games.

By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Bernard Emié at 58 Knightsbridge, London SW1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the French Republic to the Court of St James’s.

Clarence House

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay this morning received the Hon Joseph Muscat MP (Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta) at Dumfries House, Cumnock, Ayrshire.

His Royal Highness this afternoon gave a Reception at Dumfries House for leaders of Commonwealth Small Island States and subsequently attended a Meeting.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay afterwards received the Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP (Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and the Lord Marland (Chairman, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council).

His Royal Highness subsequently received The President of the Republic of Mauritius.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay later gave a Reception for Commonwealth Youth Leaders.

His Royal Highness, President, the Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust, this evening held a Dinner at Dumfries House.

The Duchess of Rothesay this morning visited the Pierburg Education Centre at Dumfries House.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, Baker Dearing Educational Trust, this afternoon attended the Trust’s University Technical Colleges Conference at Mary Sumner House, 24 Tufton Street, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Trampery, later officially opened Fish Island Labs, 60 Dace Road, London E3.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Vice Patron, Commonwealth Games Federation, and The Countess of Wessex today attended the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Princess Royal this morning visited the Clan Donald Centre at Armadale Castle, Isle of Skye, unveiled a commemorative statue for the Skye Terriers Club and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty (Mrs Christopher Bowen).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited Skyeskyns Limited, 17 Lochbay, Waternish, Isle of Skye, to mark the company’s Thirtieth Anniversary.

The Princess Royal later visited Dunvegan Castle and gardens.

Kensington Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon attended the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
