The Earl of Rosslyn was received by The Queen this afternoon upon relinquishing his appointment as Commander Royalty and Specialist Protection Department, Metropolitan Police, when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
The Queen was represented by Diana, Lady Farnham (Lady in Waiting) at the Funeral of Mr Philip Somerville which was held in the Parish and Ward Church of St Botolph without Bishopsgate, London EC2, this afternoon.

The Duke of York this morning departed from Dyce Airport, Aberdeen, for Switzerland and was received on arrival at Geneva Airport this afternoon by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation (His Excellency Mr David Moran) and Her Majesty’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organisations (Her Excellency Ms Karen Pierce).
His Royal Highness later visited the Compact Muon Solanoid, CERN, the European Centre for Nuclear Research, Cessy, France.
The Duke of York afterwards attended a Lunch with Young British Scientists at the Headquarters of CERN in Geneva.
His Royal Highness subsequently attended the Sixtieth Anniversary Ceremony of CERN at the Company’s Headquarters.
The Duke of York this evening attended a United Kingdom Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation Reception at the World Trade Organisation, Geneva.
His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Dinner given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organisations at the Residence in Geneva.

The Earl of Wessex this morning opened the new offices of West Dorset District Council, South Walks House, South Walks Road, Dorchester, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mr Angus Campbell).
His Royal Highness, President, Seafarers UK, this afternoon visited Veterans Outreach Support at the Royal Maritime Club, Queen Street, Portsmouth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr Nigel Atkinson).
The Earl of Wessex afterwards opened the Sixth Form Centre at Portsmouth Grammar School, High Street, Portsmouth.
