Buckingham Palace

The President of the Republic of Latvia and Mrs Vejonis visited The Queen today.

The Lord Darzi of Denham, Professor Dame Ann Patricia Dowling and Sir James Dyson were received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested them with the Insignia of Members of the Order of Merit.

The Lord Fellowes (Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit) was in attendance.

Dame Patricia Reddy (Governor-General designate of New Zealand) was received in audience by The Queen this afternoon when Her Majesty invested her with Insignia of a Dame Grand Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit and with the Insignia of a Companion of The Queen’s Service Order of New Zealand.

The Governor-General designate of New Zealand and Sir David Gascoigne remained to Luncheon with The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Queen held a Council at 4.45pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon David Lidington MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Prime Minister), the Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP (Secretary of State for International Trade), the Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP (Secretary of State for the Home Department) and the Rt Hon Sir Christopher Geidt (Private Secretary to Her Majesty).

The Rt Hon Theresa May MP was sworn First Lord of the Treasury.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon David Lidington MP had an audience of The Queen before the Council.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Royal Institute of Navigation, this afternoon presented prizes and awards at the Annual General Meeting at the Royal Geographical Society, Kensington Gore, London SW7.

By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Konstantinos Bikas at 51 Upper Brook Street, London W1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Hellenic Republic to the Court of St James’s.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall this morning visited the Harbour, Middle Street, Port Isaac, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall afterwards attended a Reception for the cast and crew of the television series Doc Martin at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, 6 New Road, Port Isaac.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Taste of the West, and Her Royal Highness later attended Taste of the West’s Twenty Fifth Anniversary Food Fair in the grounds of Exeter Cathedral and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Mr David Fursdon).

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Patron, the Guinness Partnership, this afternoon visited a new development of affordable homes at Bradninch, Exeter.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Plantlife International, later visited Brimpts Farm, Dartmeet, Princetown, Yelverton, Devon.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning attended a Reception for the Ideas Foundation, the Village Hall, Port Isaac, and was received by Mrs Ellen Winser (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Children’s Hospice South West, this afternoon attended a Service of Thanksgiving to mark the Charity’s Twenty Fifth Anniversary in Exeter Cathedral and was received by the Countess of Arran (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, this morning chaired the Quarterly Meeting of the Court at Trinity House, London EC3.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Learning and Work Institute, this afternoon attended the Family Learning Changes Lives Presentations, City Lit, 1-10 Keeley Street, London WC2, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr Kenneth Olisa).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Patron, this evening held a Dinner for Opera North at Windsor Castle.
