By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Matthew Barzun at 24 Grosvenor Square, London W1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the United States of America to the Court of St. James’s.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, Royal Colonel, The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, this morning received Lieutenant Colonel Alasdair Steele upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Robert Hedderwick upon assuming the appointment.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, this morning attended a briefing on the Heads Together Campaign, Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Mall, London SW1.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, this evening attended the Endeavour Fund Awards Ceremony, Royal Geographical Society, London SW7, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa).

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, this morning visited the redevelopment site of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Brockley Hill, Stanmore, Middlesex.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Greenwich Hospital, and Visitor, The Royal Hospital School, this afternoon received Mr. Hugh Player (Director, Greenwich Hospital) and Mr. Simon Lockyer (Headmaster, The Royal Hospital School).

The Duke of York, Chairman of the Trustees, Outward Bound Trust, received Mr. Nicholas Barrett (Chief Executive).

His Royal Highness received Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Head of the Diplomatic Service).

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex this morning opened the Whitty Theatre as part of the new Performing Arts Centre at Luckley House School, Luckley Road, Wokingham, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr. James Puxley).

His Royal Highness afterwards opened the new Community Centre at Maidenhead Synagogue, Grenfell Lodge, Ray Park Road, Maidenhead, and was received by Mr. Christopher Khoo (Deputy Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire).

The Countess of Wessex today received Commander Philip Dennis upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer of HMS DARING.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal this morning visited Plymouth Highbury Trust, 207 Outland Road, Plymouth, on the occasion of its Sixtieth Anniversary and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Mr. David Fursdon).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Mount Kelly Foundation’s 50 Metre Olympic Legacy Swimming Pool, Mount Kelly Swim Centre, Parkwood Road, Tavistock, and was received by Sir Peter Squire (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon).

The Princess Royal, Patron, Farms for City Children, later visited Nethercott House, Iddesleigh, Winkleigh, Devon, to mark its Fortieth Anniversary.

The Duke of Gloucester, President, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, this afternoon received Mr. Malcolm Thomas (Chairman) and Mr. Paul Burrows (Chief Executive).
