Buckingham Palace

The Rt Hon Theresa May MP had an audience of The Queen this afternoon and tendered her resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept. Mr Philip May was also received by The Queen.

Her Majesty received in audience the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP and requested him to form a new Administration. The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP accepted The Queen’s offer and kissed hands upon his appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited Sandringham Flower Show.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, Northern Lighthouse Board, this morning visited Papa Stronsay Lighthouse, Orkney.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre, 240 Swithland Lane, Rothley, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire (Mr Michael Kapur).

His Royal Highness, Honorary President, the 20-Ghost Club Limited, afterwards presented the Awards at the Annual Concours at Stapleford Park Country House Hotel, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
