Buckingham Palace
The Queen, Patron, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning officially opened the new Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Road, London E1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer) and the Chairman of St Bartholomew’s Health NHS Trust (Sir Stephen O’Brien).
Her Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Mr Peter Morris (Chief Executive, St Bartholomew’s Health NHS Trust), toured the Children’s Play Area and Dining Room and met young patients and members of nursing staff.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the Renal Ward, meeting kidney transplant patients and members of nursing staff.
Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, afterwards officially opened the National Centre for Bowel Research and Surgical Innovation, Newark Street, London E1, and was received by the Director of the Centre and President of the Royal College of Surgeons (Professor Norman Williams).
The Queen, escorted by the Director, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Professor Michael Curtis (Director, Blizard Institute), toured the Human Tissue Research Laboratory, the Electrophysiology Laboratory and the Bowel and Cancer Research Charity Office, meeting supporters, members of staff and Trustees.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, this afternoon held a Meeting.
His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, later held a Meeting.
The Prince of Wales this evening gave a Reception for representatives of forestry and woodland organisations at Clarence House.
The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Discover Children’s Story Centre, 383-387 High Street, Stratford, London E15, to mark its Tenth Anniversary and met finalists of the World Book Day 2013 Storytelling Superstars competition, and was received by Mr John Barber (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, Sentebale, this morning visited the Kananelo Centre for the Deaf, Lesotho.
His Royal Highness, Patron, Sentebale, later visited the St Bernadette’s Centre for the Blind, Maseru.
Prince Henry of Wales this afternoon departed from Maseru Airport for South Africa.
His Royal Highness, Patron, Sentebale, this evening attended a Dinner at the Summer Palace in Johannnesburg.
Mr Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton was in attendance.

The Duke of York, Chairman of the Trustees, Outward Bound Trust, this morning held a Chairman’s Meeting and subsequently gave a Luncheon for the Patron’s Company.
His Royal Highness this afternoon received Her Excellency Ms Judith Guichon (Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia).
The Duke of York this evening attended a Reception given by the Canadian High Commissioner in London to launch the British Columbia Trade and Investment Office for Europe.
His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Dinner given by the Royal Marines onboard HQS Wellington, Victoria Embankment, London WC2.
